KUALA LUMPUR: Six Myanmars were sentenced to death after they were found guilty of murdering a fellow countryman four years ago.
High Court judge Datuk Zabidin Mohd Diah said the defence had failed to create a doubt in the prosecution’s case.
“On the other hand, the prosecution has proven their case beyond reasonable doubt,” he said in his oral judgment yesterday.
Ang Soo Uu Flower @ Salim, 32, Wing Nyung @ Kasim, 29, Nagu Rashid, 32, Monji @ Abdul Karim Hashim, 31, Saidullah @ Soso, 28, and Zaw Oo, 32, were jointly charged with murdering Sadi Hussin in Jalan Ipoh here about 5.30am on June 26, 2005.
Except for Zaw, who is a car washer, the others are labourers at the Selayang wholesale market.
The six were also sentenced to three years’ jail for causing grievous hurt to Sadi’s brother, Shafiq Hussin, 27, with a parang and screwdriver at the same place and time.
Ang received an additional three years’ jail for causing grievous hurt to another Myanmar, Hla Maung Thar, 35, with a screwdriver at the same place and time.
The prosecution, led by deputy public prosecutor Melizza Md Akhir, called 18 witnesses while the defence called nine witnesses.
